Ministry Services Offered
Prison Aftercare: Starting Point is a Ministry with a mission to help men and women make a successful transition from prison, back into society. We accomplish this through joint efforts of the local area churches, community outreach services and organizations. We believe, through church mentoring and support, a person can greatly increase their chances of success once released. We are a Christian organization that believes permanent change is possible only through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
12 Step Christ Centered Support Groups: Starting Point facilitates a 12 step recovery group every Thursday at 6:30 pm. The group format mirrors NA/ AA groups, however we utilize the 12-steps based on Biblical teaching. This is a step study open to any person recovering from any type of addiction. M
Adult Mentoring: Over the years we have learned that one of the most effecte ways to help a person transitioning from prison is to provide them with a mature Christian mentor. Idealy the relationship begins while the person is still in prison with six months to one year remaining on their sentence. Through a pen pal program the mentor and mentoree develop a relationship which will continue through release. o Pre-Employment Classes: We provide pre-employment classes which help prepare and coach resently released men and women in obtaining employment. Often the task of securing employment can be challenging for felons. Our class is designed to encourage participants as well as keep them focused. Currently we have over 100 local employers who have agree to consider felons that have completed our program. Info.
Other Services: Starting Point Minisstry offers many other services including, Ministry training for those called to this ministry, Bible studies to inmates, Teaching social skills in the local jails and prisons, and much more. |
